XRLP Acoustics

The acoustic report authorities ask for when you open, extend or change a food and drink venue — plant, extraction, patron noise and a management plan.

Produced from your drawings, mechanical schedule and proposed opening hours.

Desk-based assessment. We do not attend site or take measurements. Where your authority has specifically asked for measured background sound levels, you supply that data — or we tell you before you order.

Who this report is for

  • New restaurant, cafe, bar, takeaway or dark kitchen seeking permission
  • Change of use applications
  • Applications for extended opening hours or a new licence
  • Discharging a condition on noise from extraction or plant
  • Responding to an environmental health noise complaint

What the report contains

  1. Executive summary and conclusion for the determining officer
  2. Site description, layout and identification of noise-sensitive receptors
  3. Noise sources assessed: kitchen extract and ventilation, refrigeration and condensers, air conditioning, deliveries and waste collection, patron noise, and amplified music where applicable
  4. Background sound level from data you supply or from published sources
  5. Rating level calculation for plant
  6. Internal amenity assessment where residential receptors are affected
  7. Mitigation schedule: attenuators, acoustic louvres, enclosures, plant selection and operational controls
  8. Draft noise management plan (complex tier)
  9. Recommended conditions the applicant can accept
  10. Appendices with calculations, equipment schedule and drawings

Standards we write to

Tell us which country the project is in and which authority the report must satisfy, and we assess against the right framework.

Region Assessed against
United Kingdom BS 4142 for plant, BS 8233 for internal amenity
EU / international ISO 9613-2, national and municipal limits
United States & Canada Local municipal noise ordinance, ANSI/ASA S12.9
Australia & New Zealand AS 1055, state EPA policy

What we need from you

  • Site address
  • Floor plans and elevations
  • Mechanical schedule or datasheets for extract, AC and refrigeration plant — make, model, sound power level
  • Proposed opening hours and covers
  • Any pre-application advice, conditions or correspondence from the authority
  • Existing noise survey data, if you have it

Your turnaround starts when we have all of this — not when you pay.

What this report is not

  • Not a substitute for a measured survey where the authority has specifically required measured background levels — you supply that data or we tell you before you order
  • Not attendance at a committee, appeal or licensing hearing
  • Not acoustic testing of installed plant after fit-out
  • Not a guarantee of permission. It gives the acoustic evidence that supports the application

Price and turnaround

Tier Turnaround Price
Standard venue 5 working days $795
Complex — late hours, external seating or amplified music 8 working days $1,545

Prices in US dollars, shown in full — that is the total you pay. Two rounds of revisions included within 30 days.

How it works

  1. Choose your report. The price you see is the price you pay.
  2. Tell us about the project. A short brief here, a fuller intake after checkout.
  3. We do the work. Modelling, calculation and drafting, accelerated by our own tooling.
  4. An acoustician reviews and signs it. Every report is manually reviewed and signed by a professional acoustician before it reaches you.

How it works in detail

Questions

My application was refused on noise grounds. Can you help?

Yes. Send us the refusal notice and the officer report in the brief. We address the specific reasons given.

Do you cover the extraction system?

Yes. Kitchen extract is usually the dominant source, and the report specifies attenuation where needed.

What about noise from customers outside?

Patron noise is covered qualitatively as standard, and in the complex tier we assess external areas and provide a management plan.

We have live music. Which tier?

The complex tier. If music is the main issue rather than a secondary one, the Entertainment Venue report is the better fit.
