Thirty questions we actually get asked. If yours is not here, ask us — we reply within one working day.
Buying and process
Which report do I need?
The reports page opens with a chooser that maps your situation to the right report. If none fit, use the custom quote form.
What if I choose the wrong one?
We check every brief before starting. If you have bought the wrong report we either move you to the right one and settle the difference, or refund you in full.
How do I pay?
By card at checkout, processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars;
Can I pay by invoice or bank transfer?
For orders above $2,000 or for repeat clients, yes — email us before ordering.
Can I get a purchase order or a formal quote first?
Yes. Email us the report and tier you want and we will issue a written quote you can raise a PO against.
When does the turnaround start?
When we have your complete intake form and all required documents — not when you pay. We confirm your delivery date as soon as we have everything.
Can you work faster?
48-hour priority turnaround is available as an add-on at +50%, subject to capacity.
Do you keep anything in my basket?
No. There is no basket to manage. You complete the brief, go straight to payment, and if you leave nothing is retained.
Credibility
Will my council or authority accept your report?
Our reports are written to the standard your authority assesses against, and are structured the way determining officers expect. No consultancy can guarantee acceptance — anyone who does is overselling. What we can say is that where a report is rejected because of an error or omission on our part, we fix it free.
Who actually writes and signs the report?
Production is by XRLP Acoustics using our own tooling. Technical review and sign-off is by a professional acoustician. Full detail here.
Have you worked with my authority before?
Possibly, but we would rather answer the real question: our reports address the standards and the conditions your authority applies, and we adapt to the wording they use.
What if the authority rejects the report?
Tell us within 6 months. If it is our error, we revise free. If it is because they want something outside the scope you bought, we tell you plainly and you pay only the difference.
Technical
Do you visit the site?
No. We are desk-based worldwide. This is what lets us hold fixed prices and short turnarounds.
When is a survey essential?
Whenever an assessment must compare against a measured background sound level — most often a full BS 4142 assessment or a residential scheme where the authority has explicitly required survey data. In those cases you supply the data or commission a local acoustician. We tell you before you order, not after.
Can I supply my own survey data?
Yes, and several tiers are built around exactly that. Send the measurement report and calibration records with your intake.
How accurate are desk-based calculations?
For design-stage work — sound insulation build-ups, room acoustics, glazing specification — they are the standard method and a site visit would add nothing. For environmental noise, accuracy depends on the quality of the input data, and every report states its own limitations openly.
What is the difference between sound insulation and room acoustics?
Sound insulation is about sound passing between spaces. Room acoustics is about how sound behaves within one space — echo, reverberation, intelligibility. Different problems, different reports.
Do you do pre-completion sound insulation testing?
No. It requires an accredited tester on site. We specify the design and tell you what testing your scheme needs.
Do you do vibration?
Not as a standard report. Request a custom quote.
Do you do noise at work assessments?
Not as a standard report, and they usually require on-site measurement. Request a quote and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Which country’s standards do you work to?
Whichever applies to your project. You tell us the country and the authority in the brief, and we assess against UK, EU/ISO, US/Canadian or Australian/New Zealand frameworks accordingly.
The AI question
Is my report written by AI?
Partly, and we would rather say so than be vague. Our tooling assembles site context, runs the calculations, checks the assessment against the standard clause by clause, and drafts to a fixed structure. It does not choose the methodology, make the judgements the standard requires, or sign anything.
Does a human actually check it?
Yes. Every report is reviewed and signed by a qualified acoustic consultant before it is issued. No exceptions.
How do I know the numbers are right?
Every calculation is cross-checked by a second method, and the full workings are in the appendices so anyone can audit them. That is deliberate: a report you cannot check is a report you cannot defend.
What happens to my drawings and project data?
They are stored privately and accessible only to the people working on your report. Our Privacy Policy names every processor involved, and analysis runs on our own self-hosted models.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We run our own self-hosted models on our own infrastructure, so your drawings and project data are never sent to a third-party AI service, and they are never used to train any model — ours included. If you need written assurance before ordering, ask and we will give you one.
After delivery
How many revisions do I get?
Two rounds within 30 days, included.
Can I get changes later?
Yes, quoted at the time. Reports stay valid for 12 months provided the design and site conditions do not change.
Can I get a refund?
Before we start, always. After delivery, we revise or correct rather than refund — unless we cannot make the report do what the page said it would, in which case we refund in full. See the Refunds Policy.
Can you respond to the planning officer for me?
Yes, as an add-on at $295 covering up to two rounds within 6 months.
